Before you stands a tall, broad Elezen whose build proves her ability to wear her platemail. Camille is tall by nature and broad only by what must be a constant effort in training. Her dark skin and hair cut a sharp contrast to jewel-red eyes, cool in tone despite their bright color. Her jaw is strong for an Elezen, although her sharp angles still carve out a slightly heart-shaped face overall. Her hair is shaved at the sides, and the soft black curls atop her head are shaped into locs that fall forward against her face. Her features speak to the almost genderless beauty of the Elezen, and thus her presentation decides her fate. Camille is constantly crashing against the restraints of social norms for highborn Ishgardian ladies, but those same norms allowed some degree of discrepancy through knighthood. She's embraced it: much of her presentation is crafted intentionally to evoke the gallant nobility of the knights of eld.Her clothing is elegant but utilitarian, sourced from the mens' section at any Foundation tailor. When forced out of her platemail, she favors high-collared blouses and long coats, making her chest easy to mistake between musculature and the curve of breasts. While her black leather gloves are nearly ubiquitous, if one should sight her bare skin, they would note a ring of carved antler on her right hand.

"The knight is a man of blood and iron, a man familiar with the sight of smashed faces and the ragged stumps of lopped-off limbs; he is also a demure, almost a maidenlike, guest in hall, a gentle, modest, unobtrusive man. He is not a compromise or happy mean between ferocity and meekness; he is fierce to the nth and meek to the nth."

History

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I took the one most travelled by. It was littered with corpses, as such roads are. But as you will have noticed, my own corpse is not among them."
Margaret Atwood, "The Testaments"

The Descatoire bloodline claims its nobility only through its continuous production of Knights Dragoon, for their estate was a gift earned from the patronage of the High House Durendaire, who retained the family to add to the House's enduring reputation of military might. As the eldest child in her generation and the daughter of the Lord and Lady Descatoire, Camille would be born and bred to be the next to take up the mantle.Camille entered the Temple Knights as a squire just after her eleventh summer. As with many of her peers, her teenage years were dedicated to martial pursuits, with academia as an aside once she returned to the barracks. As she reached adulthood, she qualified for further training amongst other prospective Dragoons by felling her first full-grown dragon in a highland skirmish. But like the vast majority of those chosen few, Camille was eventually cut from the ranks. In her case, she was cut down physically, bearing wounds most grievous from a sacrifice chosen just before the prime of her military career. The medals on her uniform would be little consolation compared to the title that should have been hers in but a few moons' time.Anyone curious enough to dig through public records in the Pillars or chat with the servants of High House Durendaire could find that Camille was discharged for medical reasons-- and that some of her medals are gifted specifically to those maimed in the course of battle. There is no Camille Descatoire in the current roster of Temple Knights.Bereft of the brotherhood that embraced her and stripped of her chance at the title of Knight Dragoon, Camille seems to have somehow recovered enough to find a secondary path in the hunt. Now that years have passed, her name is again notable as a Hunter-Scholar and adventurer, and those who run in such circles may well have heard of her. Although she visits Ishgard regularly, those close to the Durendaires might know that Camille hasn't come home to the Descatoire manse for some time.
Plot Hooks
- Clientele
Are you in need of a well-practiced blade, or simply some manual labor? Camille is often available for private contracts, and if not, marks from Clan Centurio make up most of her income. She specializes in leading small-scale dungeoneering teams.- Barracks Buddies
Are you another Temple Knight, especially one with connections to either House Durendaire or the Knights Dragoon? You might have known Camille! Would your character approve of her ascent into adventuring, or would they think it beneath her? Let her buy you a beer for old times' sake, and find out.- Needs of the Many
Camille read her good Ishgardian fairytales, and like any good knight, she's a complete sucker for a "damsel in distress" scenario. Cat up a tree? Lost your favorite necklace? Purse being stolen? Old suitor not leaving you alone? She couldn't help but step in if you gave her a good deer-in-the-headlights look-- and she doesn't charge, either!- Far From Home
Just after the end of the Dragonsong War, Camille spent some time far-flung from her northern abode. If you hail from the fair desert city Ul'dah and ran in the circles of commonfolk at the time, you may recognize Camille's face... if not her name.- Good Hunter
Those beloved of the Black Shroud would be quick to note the fact that Camille is merely tolerated by the Wood, and this is only thanks to the conjurers' wards she bears about her person. She has the eye of the elementals, as though any misstep in this arena would find her strung up through the trees. Despite the potential for Greenwrath whispering through her form, her aether is entirely unremarkable.

"In which I’m forever a child looking out my window at the night sky / Thinking one day I’ll touch the world with bare hands. Even if it burns."

Writer to Writer
Hi! I'm Griff! Thanks for reading Camille's carrd. I made this page to skip some of the "soo um haha what do you like to rp" convo. Take a look and say hi sometime!
Preferences
From Me
How I write, and what I offer.
- Available M-F after 5PM CST, or weekends anytime.
- Variable post size based on situation. I write short posts in group RP, and para to multi para in 1 on 1s.
- Generally lore-abiding characters. (Except when the lore sucks. I'm not doing Ishgardian Salt Lick RP. Sue me. xx)
- Very positive about headcanon that builds out the XIV world.
- I love to write NPCs and DM scenes, with strict systems or more casually. I also love having other people run things!
For You
What I expect from RP partners & friends.
- 18+ writers and characters.
- Treat both the writer and characters with respect.
The rest is pretty basic, but it's worth saying explicitly:
I expect fellow writers to not bring OOC stereotypes into RP.
- I'm really, really not on FFXIV to play homophobia sim with my butch OCs.
- I do not write characters who are labeled as futa / trap / f+ / cboy / etc.
- Similarly, I'm a white writer playing a varied cast, and I don't let other writers project racist stereotypes onto my characters. (I don't want to do this either: let me know if you see places I can improve.)
Genres & Themes
Yes, please!
I love this stuff. Pitch me an idea.
- Occult, paranormal, and horror genres.
- Extravagant goth stuff. Clearly.
- Duty and knighthood and crying about women etc.
You get the gist if you've googled 'paladin dnd 5e'.
Maybe.
I like to write these things, but OOC communication is required.
- Sensitive themes (gore, abuse, self-destructive behavior, sex...)
- Premade relationships
- Aether-sensitive OCs 'clocking' Camille
No, Thanks.
I'm not doing these on this character.
- Unplanned character death
- Sexual assault in any form
- Romance storylines or ERP scenes
(I guess you can like, try? Not knocking ERP at all, but come on, she's married.)
Or if you're not 100% on what this character is about yet, click on the tiny Camille.

I actually communicate better through horrendous memes than I do through roleplay. Thanks.
